Global Mini Forests Review

The Global Mini Forests Review looks at the characteristics, approach, and impact of planted mini forest cases from around the world. While not an exhaustive listing of mini forests, with close to 500 cases the global review captures more than 10% of the estimated 3000 mini forest cases worldwide. Collected data includes: basic information (e.g., location, age or year planted, site characteristics including land ownership and previous uses, Koppen climate classification, etc.); design characteristics (e.g., size, planting density including number of trees planted and diversity of species, type of access, features such as benches or pathways, etc.); process or approach (e.g. funding information, actors involved, number of volunteers on planting day, types of volunteers, motivation for planting the mini forest, etc.); and data from monitoring or mini forest impact (e.g., tree survival rate, average height of the tallest trees, qualitative impacts on community, biodiversity impacts, impacts on climate resilience, etc.).
