Framework for Mini Forests in Canada

The objective of this project is to develop a framework to advance the creation and management of mini forests across Canada by identifying a series of best practices and key policy levers. The framework will be informed by survey data from 15 mini forests established in 2023 under the Green Communities Canada’s National Mini Forest Pilot. The study will be complemented with interview responses from 7 selected case studies, and existing policy mechanisms related to urban forestry and urban greening, climate action, and environmental justice. This framework aims to support city planners, policymakers, and community organizations in future urban greening efforts throughout Canada to create more resilient and livable communities.
